About Me: My name is Sawsan (so-sen) and I’m looking for a new roomie! I am a queer community organizer, work remotely from home, and travel every so often for work. I grew up on the east coast, but my family is originally from Libya. I’ve been in Oakland for about 2 years. Some of my hobbies include dancing, pole, plant care/gardening, cooking, watching trash reality tv, spending time in nature, yapping with friends, exploring the city/new restaurants, and travel. My educational background is in climate science and urban planning, and most of my career has been in the environmental justice space.

My Ideal Home: I’m a Taurus, so my home being cozy, comfy, and beautiful is important to me. I strive to curate a safe space for myself, my roomie(s), and my community. I enjoy occasionally hosting friends for dinners, game nights, movies, etc. I also enjoy balancing that with moments of peace and quiet in the space. I am very 50/50 introvert extrovert, so I enjoy having balance. I am 420 and cat friendly. I currently have a fully furnished apartment and fully stocked kitchen, and can contribute those items to our shared space. I am looking for a 2 bedroom, 1-2 bathroom home with laundry in unit that is within walking distance to Lake Merritt that we can move into together. My current lease goes month to month April 10th, so I’m hoping to move sometime in May-June. I’m flexible with 30 days notice.

My Ideal Roomie: Someone who is kind, responsible, reliable, and has a good sense of humor. Someone who can communicate well, keeps common areas as clean as they can (with understanding that life be lifeing), and is interested in building community with one another. Someone who shares my social justice values (Free Palestine!). Someone who likes to hang but also has their own passions and hobbies.

Cleaning: I like to deep clean my home once every week or 2, and surface level clean throughout the week to keep things tidy in between. I’m the type of person who will leave my dishes in the sink for maybe a few hours at most, but not usually overnight (maybe a cup or 2). Overall, I try to keep things clean but also understand that we’re not perfect. Culturally, I don’t wear shoes in my home and would expect that to be a house rule.
