Hello,

I’m seeking a rental starting Aug 1 (or earlier): either a 1-bedroom for 3-4 months, or a 2-bedroom for 6 months, in a kid-appropriate home or apartment (if furnished).

I hope my story resonates: I was separated from my 2nd grade son for all of 2025 under devastating circumstances that were beyond my control. There is now a court order in place for full reunification, and I am actively working through the required steps. Between August and October, those steps include 10 overnight visits and regular weekly time together (mostly spent outside the home). After that 3 month transition period, by November, he’ll be living with me full time and needing a dedicated room (I can sleep on the floor or air mattress and he can have my bed (or share it) during the 10 overnights before Nov).

He is wonderfully behaved, kind, and mature for his age, and I am a devoted, hands-on father who has been counting the days until we can be fully reunified again.

As a tenant, I’m a working professional: quiet, respectful, clean, and rarely home while working to support my kid. I don’t party or cause problems, and I take care of wherever I live, while also enjoying friendly conversation when encouraged.

I need a place to stay that has it’s own sequestered area (like a standalone basement) and the only other people in the house are the home owners. Due to having a kid involved who will come over on occasion, I can’t be in a place where new roommates who I don’t know will come in after I’ve already signed a lease. And while 95% of the time in the first 3 months at least it will only be me, it can’t be a party or stoner vibe (I don’t care personally, but I have to have a higher threshold when it’s more than just me, but feel free to partake in moderation, so long as it doesn’t affect the kid (which is a bigger deal if it’s 6 months, since starting in November we’ll be permanently reunited)

I know this isn’t a standard rental request, but I’m hoping to find a good person who can see the heart behind it. Becoming a full-time father again is the most important thing in my life, and finding a stable home is the final hurdle to being reunited with my son.
