Description

Respectful, responsible, and generally friendly. I’m somewhat social and like having guests over from time to time, but I also like a lot of alone time to recharge and get my to-dos done. I’m into art and am queer (lesbian), in case anyone prefers a creative and/or queer roommate; I’m likely to be more particular about the space than about the roommates, but queer and/or creative roommates would be a plus.

I’ve recently returned to Portland after living here from 2008-16 (I went to PSU for my master’s, then lived with family) and am looking for a more long-term living situation after my temporary rental ends.

My top priorities for my next place are a private bathroom, grocery store and coffee shop in walking distance, and an outdoor space like a yard or balcony with the option to set up an umbrella and sitting area if there isn’t already shaded/covered seating outside.

I also want enough space for a desk and chair, whether in my bedroom or elsewhere. A dedicated workspace outside of my bedroom would be ideal, but a large enough bedroom to easily fit (leaving enough floor space to walk and vacuum) a queen bed and potentially also a bedside table as well as a computer desk + chair could also work. (The viability of setting up a bedroom workspace might vary depending on the size and on how much storage space I can use outside of the bedroom.)

Gardening space would be an awesome bonus.

Location-wise, I prefer inner northeast/lower NoPo and really like my temporary spot in Humboldt, but I’m open to other east-side neighborhoods that are relatively close-in. I don’t have a car and like that my current place is in walking distance from amenities and events on Albina, MLK, and Alberta.

I don’t have much furniture right now besides an air mattress and small lap table, and my current place is furnished already, so it would also be cool to find a partially or fully furnished room (I’m allergic to memory foam, though, so I’d have to use my own mattress in lieu of any that contain it).

(My favorite past house-shares had yards, bonfires, and creative people, and I had a lot of fun making music and sketch comedy videos and other art projects at those houses. I’d probably enjoy living in a similar situation again, but it’s not necessary. I’m mostly just trying to find a space where I’ll feel comfortable settling in for at least the next year–though I might eventually consider a shorter lease term if I end up having trouble finding a 12-month lease at a place that meets my needs–and where I can leave my belongings while visiting my family out-of-state for several weeks or longer at a time.)
