Ian Kit

Hi, this is Ian Kit (he/him) but most people just call me Kit. I’m looking to move closer to Portland for work and friends - ideally in North/Central Portland (around the Boise, King, Irvington, Eliot area). I am looking for a bedroom + private bathroom (ideally a master bedroom) with off-street parking. Or, I’d love to team-up and rent out a place as a group! Here is some info about me below!

Work: I am an adjunct instructor at Portland Community College. I teach in the math department!

Recreation: In terms of fun outside of work, I love music! And I occasionally work on music production. Sometimes I play guitar or the keyboard. I’m currently living in my family home, so I mostly work on music through my headphones - so noise should not be an issue! I also have been getting back to doing art and writing more. I love writing poetry and drawing. I used to do graphic design when I was younger and might pick that back up again.

I like socializing too, meeting new people is fun to me. I like going out to speakeasy bars or dive bars. Karaoke bars are fun too. Trivia nights at pubs are great! I don’t drink a lot anymore however - typically I will only have 2 to 3 drinks on an average night out. I don’t smoke tobacco. I can engage in some weed smoking or edibles occasionally, but I don’t actively seek that out.

I like doing outdoor stuff too. Hiking and paddleboarding are my personal favorite outdoor activities! I like working out too, and I usually work out 6 days a week. I occasionally do running events as well. I have done 10k’s and would like to eventually do a half marathon at some point in the future.

Housemate style: I have a minimalist style and I am diligent about keeping my personal and shared spaces clean and organized. I like some chores actually - I don’t mind being given the dishwashing duties! I like to cook sometimes too! I’m of Filipino descent, so I love cooking dishes from the islands! I’m also vegan as well, so I am experienced in accommodating pretty much any dietary restriction - however I’m not annoying about my veganism. I don’t mind cooking with meat or dairy for other people. And, for special occasions, I will eat some meat or dairy as well.

I love animals, so I don’t mind helping take care of pets (I’m not allergic to any cats or dogs as well). However, I don’t currently have a pet myself.

Personal stuff: Overall I’m a pretty chill and social person. If I’m just hanging around the house cooking or cleaning or reading, feel free to converse with me. I do enjoy a more chill household, but I don’t mind the occasional party. Most weekdays I will be in bed by around 11:30pm.

Politically, I am left/progressive leaning. I consider myself to be LGBTQ+ friendly, antiracist, and anti-imperialist. I don’t talk about politics much unless asked however. I can respect anyone’s philosophical or religious affiliations, as long as they are not racist, misogynistic, transphobic, etc.

I like having people visit. I am dating a few different people at the moment, so some of my partners may come around to visit or stay over for a night - maybe about 3 times a month. They are good people, I’m hopeful we can all be friends! I do live in a full family household at the moment, so I have experience with respectfully managing my dates with other housemates. I will also occasionally visit/stay at their place as well.

Other: I do have a personal car I use to commute - it is a hybrid (Chevy Volt) so I would like to use the off-street parking to charge my car. I don’t mind having to pay extra on the utilities to cover for the electricity costs. I can also just charge the car in other EV charging stations around the city.
