Description

Hi I’m Ryan! I currently live in Northridge, California but I work in the Arcadia area (office relocating to Pasadena soon) so I am looking to relocate closer to my job to cut down on my commute time. My friends would describe me as easy-going, responsible, cooperative, and respectful. In my free time, I enjoy working out, archery, playing music (more about this near the bottom), and trying new recipes to cook up (emphasis on “trying”). On the weekends, I try to strike a balance between getting outside (hanging out with friends or taking a hike), and de-stressing from the work week by cleaning and chilling out.

I’m an Assistant Project Manager for a Labor Compliance Firm in the Construction Industry, and I work in-office Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. Most weekdays, I spend an hour or two after work doing activities I enjoy. As far as my sleep schedule, I am usually in bed by 10pm and I wake up by 6am (could push closer to 7am with a shorter commute time). On the weekends, I am usually asleep by 12am/1am and up around 10am.

‍I would like to consider myself a social person, but everyone needs some time to recharge their social battery and I am no exception. I want my house/apartment to be a place where I can have people over occasionally, but not a place that’s constantly loud/full of people. I’m open to the idea of my roommates hosting small parties now and then, but I would just like to know about these ahead of time (communication is key!). I’m down to get to know each other, not saying we have to be best friends, but I would like to be able to do things with my roommates (play Mario Kart, watch TV, play music, etc.). I believe it is important to have at least some sort of connection to my roommates, it makes everything a little more enjoyable.

As for cleaning, I won’t pretend that I’m a clean freak, but I do like keeping common living spaces pretty clean, and I enjoy my weekend cleaning routines (sweeping/wiping surfaces down, etc.). After working in food service for a few years, I somehow still enjoy cleaning dishes and will do my part each day to make sure we stay on top of that. In speaking of staying on top of things, a cleaning schedule to keep things organized is something that I would like to have, and I want my roommates to have a similar “everyone wants to contribute” mindset to maintaining the place.

My monthly budget is $1,250 including utilities (ideally closer to $1,000), and I’m looking to move in sometime in April or May 2024. I’m hoping to find a house or apartment in the Pasadena area, or a nearby neighborhood west of Pasadena (Eagle Rock, Glendale, Highland Park, Montrose). I want my own bedroom, and I am open to living with 1-3 other people (early-mid 20s preferred). I would like a private bathroom (who wouldn’t?) but that is not a dealbreaker for me.

Here are some things you should know about me and some “quick fire” expectations I have for potential roommates: I’m big on writing down shared responsibilities and roommate expectations so that everyone feels like they are contributing equally. Circling back to my hobbies, I’ve played trumpet for about 15 years and while I’m no longer playing in groups, I still do enjoy playing a couple times a week to not lose my playing ability. I’m happy to accommodate by playing into a mute or finding a practice spot outside, but I figured that would be important to know (I’m also a big drum corps nerd if you know what that is). Another good thing to know about me are my pets. I have three baby tarantulas that I really enjoy keeping. I can understand if this may be a dealbreaker for some, but for the record I do NOT handle them/take them out of their enclosures, they do not make noise or smell, and 9/10 times it just looks like I have three small boxes of dirt on my desk (they hide a lot). Regarding night time expectations, I want a roommate who will be considerate of everyone’s sleep schedule and keep noise at night to a reasonable level so that everyone feels respected. Regarding smoking/drinking, I am not a smoker and I drink in moderation so I want a roommate who is the same way. Regarding having a partner over, I want a roommate who is respectful and notifies everyone ahead of time.

I wrote a lot in this bio but I hope this gives you an insight into where I’m coming from and demonstrates my commitment to being as transparent as possible so you can find your next favorite roommate. If you think that next roommate could be me, let me know! Would love to chat and discuss things further.
