Hi! I’m Hilary. 32, queer cis-woman. LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent friendly! Seeking a room in a house that is mostly quiet and calm. Friends and people that I have roomed with have described me as gentle, quiet, and conscientious. Open and kind communication is important to me when it comes to shared living. I am happy to keep to myself, but would also like to be on friendly terms with housemates and enjoy the space together once in a while, even if our lives are mostly parallel. I would like to help keep common areas clean and cozy. I’m seeking a place that’s much more ‘home as a sanctuary’ than ‘lively party hub’.

I have one cat, who is a sweet cuddly old lady (14 years old!). She’s used to being the only cat, but from my experience she would do alright with another cat or cat-friendly dog if carefully introduced.

I am autistic and have little-to-no issues operating independently and communicating. However, I do have sensory sensitivities to loud bass and strong fragrances. It would be cool to find someone who would be amenable to negotiating quiet hours, wearing headphones while listening to loud music, and keeping air fresheners and scented candles to a minimum, as well as keeping any smoke/vape outdoors. You’ll find I’m very accommodating to any sensory quirks and needs you may bring too.

I’m looking to rent a room– preferably in a house –to save money as I navigate a career change: returning to school for art therapy. I am working + taking classes full-time at PCC throughout 2024 in preparation for grad school. It will be a busy year.

As far as hobbies go. I like various forms of crafting and art, from cosplay to crochet. I garden and enjoy keeping houseplants. I also like to get outdoors and hike. I’ve dabbled in tabletop gaming from time to time. And I’m also a big Trekkie.

I am open to most Portland and Portland-adjacent areas, with a preference for somewhere near a PCC campus. I am looking to move around March 1, 2023, and can be flexible, about a month in either direction; I would be happy with a year-long lease or something shorter.
