Yaiza

Hi I’m Yaiza! I’m originally from the DC area. I’m moving to New York to earn my master’s degree at Columbia. I’m looking to stay in a room for 8 to 12 months.

My friends would describe me as energetic, friendly, and a good listener! I’m a big film and TV buff and I would love to potentially host watch parties. In my free time I like to go running, swim at the pool, or experience new places (coffee shops, bars, clubs, etc). During undergrad I also dabbled in a D&D campaign and I would like to learn more about it.

I will be a full-time student with a campus job and expect to maintain a 9-5 schedule. I’m usually asleep by 12 or 1.

I’m a pretty social person and would need 1-2 hours alone at night. I would love to be able to get to know each other and maybe occasionally watch TV or cook together. I’m very open to the idea of roommates hosting small parties or having people overnight as long as I know ahead of time.

I like to keep the kitchen and common spaces clean. I would prefer if dishes were cleaned and put away the day of. I’m very open to the idea of a cleaning schedule to keep things organized.

My monthly budget is under $1700, and I’m looking to move in sometime during August. I’m hoping to live either within walking distance of Columbia University or close to the 1 train. I’m open to living with 1-3 other people.

I’m not a smoker, and I’m okay with living with smokers as long it remains completely outdoors. Over the pandemic, I got really into cocktail recipes and I have my own cocktail kit! I am happy to live with pets and I have lots of experience taking care of and rescuing animals (including a squirrel - long story).
