Description
Hello! My name is Clara (23). I was an ecology student at Sterling College, VT, but this fall, I’m transferring to Naropa to expand into psychology and Buddihst studies. With my degree, I hope to work as an interp ranger, wilderness therapist, or something similar between time spent volunteering abroad with the Peace Corps or on Workaway.
I’m a very easy-going person who likes to write, draw, play music, and play games! I like to spend time outside in the garden and reading as well as hiking, backpacking, camping, kayaking, lake-swimming, and, recently, I’m getting into rock climbing.
I like to do all these things with others, and I enjoy sharing stories and talking about life, but I also enjoy having time to myself. I can be very social, but I do need to recharge.
Personally, I don’t smoke or drink alcohol (I might have one drink on a special occasion), but I don’t mind if my roommate does. If my roommate smoked or drank alcohol excessively, or expected me to join them, I might seem a bit distant to them. I also wake up and go to bed quite early, but I’m very quiet in the morning.
I consider myself to be pretty good at gentle and direct communication. If there is a disagreement or a small problem, I prefer to address it before it becomes a bigger issue. For this reason, I will never be passive aggressive, and you can rest assured that if I’m not saying something, I am not bothered. To me, this is important because I have lived with passive aggressive roommates, and I never knew whether or not they were mad at me–or if they were, what the problem was! If you are more accustomed to communicating indirectly, please let me know ahead of time. I might ask sometimes for your honest feelings and opinions, and I genuinely want to know so that I can be a better roommate to you. Don’t worry about hurting my feelings.
One other important thing: I don’t have much money. I’ve had friends in the past that were quite disappointed that I couldn’t go out to eat with them, or go skiing, or go on weekend trips. I love to have fun, and I want to have fun with you, but I am on a bit of a budget. So, if you hope to do this type of thing with your roommate, I might not be the best match for you. I would, however, love to go hiking with you :)
