Description

Hello, my name is Brian Boortz and I’ve lived and operated a writing and communications business in Los Gatos since the 80’s. I’m originally from the Palo Alto area where I graduated from elementary through high school, and I have an MA in English from the University of Oregon. I began my career at age 23 teaching at Butte College in Chico, CA where I had tenure but chose not to spend my life there and returned to this area looking for new opportunities. At that time, my jobs then were mostly in the marketing and production editing areas until I began a writing and career counseling business in Los Gatos as I have always liked this area and realized that people often needed assistance in writing projects including their resumes until the market at a certain point the internet became flooded with resumes covering all career areas on the internet, so I expanded my writing services to other areas with an emphasis on public relations writing and managing telephone emergency communications where I use a combination of operation skills and quality program oversight abilities. I have worked for colleges and large companies, but for some time I’ve been operating a small business on a low-key basis. I work with a company that provides support for people experiencing problems in their home environments. My participation has provided me a steady source of income for many years now. Not everything is problem solving, however, and some of the things I have always appreciated about Los Gatos are the interesting places to walk around in such as the many parks, the downtown area and all the historic neighborhoods. In addition to my reading, writing and conversations, another stimulating activity I’ve always enjoyed is music, and I especially like to play light classical music softly on the piano. Playing the piano to stay in shape is good for the brain, circulation, hands, fingers and wrists which are all important to me, and only requires a little practice time in the morning and in the late afternoon is what I do right now
