Description

Move-in date is flexible, but I really need to move before the end of February 2023.

I’m looking for a female roommate who would be interested in going in together on renting a 3 Bedroom place in either Oak Ridge or Clinton. Full disclosure, I am currently unemployed, but I DO have money with which to pay rent and bills and contribute to household expenses. I am currently paying $900 a month in rent without issue. I will be looking for an opportunity to work from home (due to disability), but I need to get into a better living environment first. A three bedroom living arrangement with one roommate would be ideal, as I would prefer to have a separate room to use as a home office. I am more than willing to pay 2/3 of the rent in exchange for the extra room.

I am fairly quiet, definitely not a party type at all, and would prefer a similarly tempered roommate. Some socialization between roommates is perfectly fine, and even welcome on occasion. I just don’t want to feel forced into social activities, as I’m very much an introvert at heart. I’m a bit of a nerd/geek and my interests very much reflect that. I’m also a night owl. I’ll do my best to be as quiet as possible at night, but if you’re someone who needs the house/apartment to be completely silent by 10 PM, I’m probably not the right roommate for you.

I do own a cat, so any roommate would need to be okay with that, and also any place we rent would have to allow pets. Obviously, any additional pet fees would be mine alone. My girl is very shy around new people, but she does tend to warm up over time, so if you’re an animal lover, all the better! She’s older, and generally pretty well behaved, but she is part Siamese and can be a bit loud at times, particularly if she’s feeling stressed. I will do my best to keep her out of your space if requested, but cats can be a little unpredictable. I would prefer if she had access to common areas so that she’s not shut in my room all the time. It’s been years since I’ve lived with a roommate, so I don’t quite know how she’ll react, but I don’t expect there will be an issue.

No smoking, please! Alcohol consumption is fine, as long as you’re not getting completely drunk or encouraging me to do the same.

To be upfront about things, I do have a number of chronic health and mobility issues. These do hinder me on a day-to-day basis, but unfortunately not enough to qualify me for any kind of disability benefits. As such, I’m hoping to find a living arrangement that does not require me to have to climb stairs frequently. I would also ask that any roommate I find be patient with my limitations. No one is more frustrated by them than me.

As previously mentioned, my lifestyle is pretty quiet, and I don’t anticipate many guests. However, I am moving from Knoxville in order to be closer to my sister, so she will likely visit fairly often. Her personality is similar to mine, so if you get along with me you’ll probably get along with her too. We can get a little loud when we’re together, but we’re good at turning down the volume if needed. Mostly we just hang out and talk and watch tv/movies/YouTube. If permitted, she might bring her small dog when visiting, but this is completely negotiable. Any other guests will be discussed on a case by case basis.

The overall term for the living arrangement will depend a lot on compatibility, but I am ultimately looking to find a different arrangement in 6 months to a year, if possible. This is negotiable, based on the lease agreement signed and compatibility, so please don’t let that deter you from contacting me.
