I am a responsible, easy-going 61 year-old trans woman, originally from Tennessee, but currently living in Colorado Springs, Colorado, seeking to find a furnished room by the end of this month. An Army veteran and former wedding business owner in Tennessee, I had moved to the Denver area in 2019 (with the goal of re-establishing myself in my field in the then-booming Denver job market) only to have my plans dashed when the “pandemic” hit in 2020.

Since then, I have moved around, struggling to find employment. I have no idea what the future may hold for me, but I’m a very resourceful person, and determined to make the best of what I have. I currently only own a car and a couple of suitcases of clothes, so could move in as soon as a rental/lease agreement could be reached. I have sufficient income to cover my rent/basic living expenses, and am open to any possibilities (whether in Colorado, relocating back to Tennessee, etc.) that would improve my long-term housing/employment stability prospects. $600 is the maximum rent I could afford, to include basic utilities and wifi access. I have no pets and would prefer a place with no pets (but a single cat/small dog is negotiable).

Also, I would be open to doing light housework/yardwork/running errands, etc. in exchange for rent. Due to my temporary housing situation ending at the end of this month, I will have to move in no later than September 30th.

Some additional relevant info about me. I have no criminal history, nor any evictions, and a current credit score of around 660. Somewhat of a loner, I am an amateur guitarist and songwriter. I also love yoga, walking, hiking, etc. and the occasional social meet-up whenever I get the chance. A mix of traditional and modern, and a freedom-lover, I am a politically neutral and “spiritual” woman, as well as a positive person who lives one-day-at-best I can, striving to be the best person I can.

Male or female roommate is fine, but would prefer a place with no pets (although the presence of a cat/small dog would be okay). Also, while definitely a requirement, I would prefer to find a private landlord, willing to consider working with a VA rent assistance program I have connected with, who would possibly be able to cover my first 1-2 month’s rent for me (just an inspection, a minimum 3-month lease, and willingness to accept a Form 1099 with their payment). That would be of immense help to me on the front end, but otherwise, am open to month-to-month or a longer lease, if needed.
