Description

Dog owner, full-time employed, part-time online university student, looking to move to Boston in July.

Hi, my name is Yoni (rhymes with Tony), and I currently live in Washington, DC but will move to Boston this summer. My ideal move in would be July, though I can be flexible and move between June-September. I’m looking for a 1-year lease.

My girlfriend lives in Boston now doing a 2-year Master’s program and I’ve decided to move to Boston for her last year of grad school so that we can be in the same city.

I have been working full-time for the past 8 years in non-profits, doing event planning and marketing/communications work. I am also taking online college courses part-time to finish a Bachelor’s degree. I currently work about 50% from home and 50% in the office, though I anticipate my work from home hours to shrink over the next few months.

For the last 4 years I’ve lived alone in an apartment with my dog, though I before then I lived in a house with friends, so I’m comfortable having roommates and have experience living with male and female identifying roommates and LGBTQ roommates.

As a roommate, my core values are respect and consideration, and my communication style is to be mindful that “clear is kind; unclear is unkind.” In terms of how I live in a space, I typically let my bedroom or personal space get a little disorganized from time to time, but I always keep common spaces neat and tidy. Any spaces that I share with people I make sure to keep in good order. I consider myself clean but not particularly organized (that mostly looks like doing laundry regularly but the clean clothes getting left folded or just not put away/hung up). I like to do a thorough clean once a week, but in common areas I make sure to keep things clean and tidy, resetting a space before leaving it.

My social life mostly consists of taking my dog to parks and occasionally getting dinner or drinks with friends. I used to be a big cook, though I’ve been living in a studio apartment with a tiny kitchen this year and haven’t really cooked much in it. I’ve also developed a little coffee hobby, though nothing too wild. Pre-pandemic I liked having small groups of friends over for dinner once or twice a month, but I haven’t had that experience in the last two years. I like to read, typically non-fiction books, some things related to my work but also just general interest.

I spend a lot of time working with and training my dog (he’s ESA certified, 4.5 years old, and a 50 lb shepherd/cattle dog mix), making sure he gets plenty of exercise and keeping his mind challenged by teaching him new tricks. He’s completed house trained, he doesn’t have accidents indoors and he doesn’t chew or destroy property. That being said, he does shed, so I try to clean up spaces regularly to mitigate that. He’s very friendly with people and other dogs (he also gets along with cats, but I am allergic to cats so he doesn’t get to play with them often). I like to keep my dog happy, healthy, and mentally/physically in good shape. Working consistently on his training is important to me as it keeps him well behaved and respectful of the living space.
