About the room
Furnished room with en-suite bathroom and tons of storage in newly remodeled old Portland home. You share the space with a 44 year old full-time working professional solo mom and her 9 year old daughter (who is there only part time). Located in North Portland’s Overlook Neighborhood, the house is a few blocks from the max yellow line, close to I-5 access, and an 8 min walk to historic Mississippi Street. The room is part of a lower unit in a duplex which includes the main floor and basement. $150 flat fee for bills each month (water, gas, electric, fiber internet, sewer/garbage).
This neighborhood is an absolute treasure in Portland. Very safe and very quiet. Full of working families and retirees. There are two parks just a few blocks away, including the very popular Bluffs (Mocks Crest). This neighborhood hosts lots of community events like Porch Fest, Ice Cream Socials at the Overlook House, and neighbor Dave’s annual lighting of his rainbow Christmas lights.
Formal living room, dining room, and kitchen with nook. New Samsung washer and dryer onsite, cozy electric fireplace, fully stocked kitchen for anyone who loves to cook. Large front porch and shared backyard. Mother and daughter’s rooms and bathroom are in the basement along with all their chaos. Mother has a boyfriend who is here a couple nights on the weekend. We are not Marie Kondo tidy, but also not meth-head dirty.
Available asap. First and last month’s rent, and $600 refundable security deposit. Must sign a lease with the property manager.
About the roomies
You would be sharing the home with me (working professional) and my daughter (elementary school age), so I’m looking for someone who is responsible, respectful, and comfortable living in a family environment. She is with me 3ish nights a week. She and I will be in the basement rooms. Our lifestyle is busy, intellectually curious, food always cooking, plenty of art projects happening, trying to optimize while also surviving it. We are not minimalist or perfectly tidy people, but we are also not messy or chaotic. We keep things reasonably clean and expect a roommate who contributes equally to basic cleaning and upkeep.
Me: Working professional trying to survive the solo parenting life as of the last two years. I am fairy self-aware and emotionally perceptive. Humor is key for me. Her: Wickedly sharp, highly creative, and energetic magical human. What I’m looking for: • Someone financially stable and reliable with rent • Willing to share cleaning responsibilities • Respectful of shared spaces • Comfortable around a child and able to maintain appropriate boundaries • Non-smoker (stipulated by the property manager). • No violent criminal history (background check will be required) • Generally drama-free and emotionally mature
