About the room

We have vacancy in the lower level of our home. This is a private 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom unit with it’s own private entrance located in the quiet and safe neighborhood of Maxwell Park near Mills College. The unit will be available the beginning of August of this year.

About the Unit The unit has its own private entrance down the driveway and on the backside of the home. It is equipped with a kitchenette unit that has a a build in fridge/freezer, 2 stove electric burner, and sink. You will also have direct access to the laundry room which is connected to the living room / kitchen area.

About the Location Maxwell Park is an up and coming neighborhood that is known for its strong diverse community including an annual Halloween block party where residents dress up, bring their kids, and have a great time getting to know one another. Built with the natural topography, you can see some views of Oakland Hills, Alameda, and San Francisco in parts of Maxwell Park. This neighborhood is very safe, quiet, and friendly. Mills college, Walgreens, and Laurel district which has many places to eat, a tap room, and many local businesses are all approx 10-15 minutes in walking distance.

About Transportation Casual carpool and a major AC transit stop (High St and Macarthur) are within 15 minutes walking distance. This includes stops 57, 648, 657, 680, 805, NL, NX, NX2, NX3, and NXC which can take you to SF to the Salesforce transit center. The closest AC transit stop (route 47) in just a short 3 minute walk (0.2 miles) away which takes you to the Fruitvale BART station. There is plenty of off-street parking available (street cleaning is only once a month on each side of the street). Uber/Lyfts are also plentiful in the area as well for your transportation needs.

About You You should be clean, responsible, respectful, non-smoker, drug-free, and easy going. You should have a steady income (provide W-2 paystubs or other proof of income), great rental history with references and fair to great credit score. The unit is 265 sq ft (excluding bathroom) and is ideally for a single occupant. We are open to couples but rent and deposit would be slightly adjusted.

Rent is $1500/month plus + cost of utilities split amongst the number of household occupants (PG&E, water, garbage, internet). First month’s rent and $2000 security deposit are due prior to move-in ($3500 total). We also have our home cleaned monthly by a professional housecleaner who can also clean your unit for an additional $60/month if you would like this additional service. We are ideally looking for someone for a 1 year term with the option of month-to-month afterward but am open to a 6 month term depending on the candidate.

We will be having construction work done in the backyard in the next 1-2 months with estimated construction time of approx 6 months from start to finish. If this noise is a potential issue then unfortunately this may not be a good fit.

Please message me via email with a few details about yourself including where you’re from, what you do for a living, and any info you’d like to share. I have created a video showing the unit so you have an idea of the layout. If you’re interested please contact me for an application and/or a time to check out the unit.

If you are selected there will be a $50 background check fee to verify everything on the rental application is true and correct. The $50 would be credited back to you as part of 1st month’s after you sign the lease.

Please let me know if you have any questions and looking forward to meeting you! Here’s a video tour of the place: https://youtu.be/C1Ia6bTcNno

About the roomies

We are a household of young working professionals (early to mid 30s) who would be living upstairs. My wife and I are both bay area natives and healthcare professionals (Nurse and Dietitian/Nutritionist). We love to travel (prior to COVID-19), eat delicious food, exercise, chill, and spend time with our dog (pug named Lola). I also like to work on cars as a hobby so feel free to ask me any questions including looking at your car if you’re having any trouble! Our housemate is in his early 30’s and is a recruiter for a software company in SF that helps e-commerce businesses, online marketplaces, and platforms integrate shipping with multiple carriers through their API and web application. We all are respectful, drug-free, environmentally conscious, and love pets. We keep quiet hours in our house generally from 11pm to 7am week nights due to work.
