Crisp Avenue

I am a 61-year-old female working professional, and the original owner of a beautifully maintained home on Mare Island. I have a lovely one bedroom suite with a private bath to offer. What is most important to me above all else is that we are compatible so harmony is maintained in the home. For this reason, I offer this on a month-to-month basis. If it turns out that we are very compatible, I would be happy to consider a longer lease. My other roommate has been with me for five years. She is female in her 50s. We both love and cherish this home. We’re both of Japanese ancestry. Outdoor shoes are not allowed in the house! The house is kept as beautifully as is shown in these photos.

This home is my peaceful sanctuary. I’m on the quiet side. I love to read. On weekends, she and I usually do our laundry (separately), vacuum and clean common areas - there isn’t much to do since we keep it so clean. Then, I will likely do some work at my office paying bills and in the afternoon I can often be found painting while listening to classical music. My roommate will often visit her boyfriend on the weekends at his place (no overnight guests). I like to cook, read, and visit friends on weekend evenings.

Sometimes, I’ll enjoy watching a movie in the family room while my roommate might watch programs through the Internet in her room. If you like to watch programs, that’s fine; please do so in your room. We do not have cable TV. Once in a while, we might plan a movie night and watch something together in the family room. She and I are very compatible. It’s not uncommon to find one or both of us cooking in the kitchen and we often like to cook for each other but it is never an expectation.

Description of the ideal roommate for us: someone who has a ready smile and a joyful disposition, works outside of the home, is extremely neat, very mindful and thoughtful, friendly and kind, mostly on the quiet side, does not like clutter, won’t bring a lot of possessions, makes the bed every day and put clothes away, wipes down the kitchen counters, washes and puts away dishes after using them.

Mindfulness is extremely important. I expect my roommates to always lock the front door after coming and going, to turn off the stove, appliances and lights when not in use, to pitch in so it feels like they are part of the “family” as opposed to being a hotel guest, and most importantly, to always make sure the alarm is set when they are the last to leave. This last part requires communicating and checking to see if you are indeed the last person in the house. Sounds like a simple thing but it really does require mindful effort on a consistent basis.
