My wife and I have 1 bedroom for rent in our home that’s located in the quiet and safe neighborhood of Maxwell Park.

About the Room:

The room has 4 large spacious windows that bring in natural light. The room is furnished with a full-sized tempurpedic memory foam mattress that is super comfortable (has new linens, sheets, and pillows), small desk and side table, armoire closet with shelves and mirror and TV stand. It measures about 10.5 feet by 12.5 feet (~130 sq feet).

About the Home:

You will have access to all the common areas including our kitchen, bathroom, dining room, laundry room, and backyard (good to read outside while soaking up some sun or feel free to pick some lemons from our lemon tree if there are any). You’re welcome to plant some fresh herbs if you have a planter box. The bathroom is shared with me and my spouse - we have a separate floor cabinet for your toiletries. We also have shelf space in our hallway closet for any additional small items as well as pantry space for your food items. You’re more than welcome to use our cookware/dinnerware/utensils/tupperware as long as you treat it with respect and clean it after use.

The washer and dryer are located on site and downstairs in the basement area.

Casual carpool and a major AC transit stop (High St and Macarthur) are within 15 minutes walking distance. This includes stops 57, 648, 657, 680, 805, NL, NX, NX2, NX3, and NXC which can take you to SF to the Salesforce transit center. The closest AC transit stop (route 47) in just a short 3 minute walk (0.2 miles) away which takes you to the Fruitvale BART station. 1 of us takes BART in the morning so you’re more than welcome to get a free ride (we leave the house no later than 7:15am weekdays) and get there around 7:25am.

Mills college is 10 minutes away by foot and has a swimming pool and track. Walgreens is 12-15 minutes walking distance as well as the Laurel district which has many places to eat, a tap room, and other businesses. Uber/Lyfts are also plentiful.

About Us

We are a couple in our early to mid 30s who are healthcare professionals (Nurse and Dietitian/Nutritionist). We love to travel, eat delicious food, exercise, chill, and spend time with our dog (pug named Lola). We are both drug-free, enjoy an occasional glass of wine/beer, and are environmentally conscious (we hate food waste and are good about recycling and using the compost bin while minimizing trash). We like to keep our home clean, neat, and tidy. Our 1 major rule is no shoes in the house - we have a shoe cabinet with space for a few of your shoes. We do have a professional house cleaner come every month to clean the house which includes your room if you choose to. We do have a small dog (pug named Lola) who is shy at first but is friendly. When we’re not at home she likes to sit at the viewing window or sleep on the couch. We also have 1 housemate who is in her early 30’s who lives in the downstairs basement unit. She is super chill and nice – you will likely have little to no interaction with her since she has her own separate living area.

We like to keep quiet hours in our house generally from 11pm-7am since we both wake up around 6:30-6:45am – especially on the weekdays.

About You

The ideal roommate would be clean, responsible, respectful, non-smoking, drug-free, easy going, trustworthy, and kind. Please make sure you clean up after yourself (i.e. cleaning/washes dishes and wiping counters when you’re done using them, etc). If you love dogs that’s great but not necessary as our dog keeps to herself except when you’re eating/cooking – she is a con artist when it comes to food and will try to beg. Unfortunately she doesn’t get along with other pets so not pets allowed unless it’s a fish or an enclosed animal.

You should have a steady income (provide paystubs or other proof of income), great rental history with references and good credit score.

Rent is $900/month plus shared utilities (garbage, water, PG&E, internet) which is usually less than $100 on average.

First month’s rent and $1500 security deposit at move-in ($2400 total)

6-month lease with possibility of extension (long-term tenant preferred) to yearly depending how things go.

If you are chosen there will be a $50 background check fee - the $50 will be credited back to you if you decide to stay with us and if all looks good on the background check (to verify everything).

Meha (downstairs housemate) - Coach / movement consultant practitioner who enjoys yoga.
