About the room
Hi, I’m Zandra - right now I live in San Mateo with 5 (soon to drop down to 4) housemates. We don’t have as much formal structure as most co-ops, but we try to recruit people who are excited about having a bit of community in their lives (aka sharing dinner once or twice a week, or playing board games. :)
We’ve made a relaxing garden in the backyard that has a a hammock and good wifi for working outside. The room that’s about to be available to rent has a window with a nice view of fig trees. :)
It’s also probably the most noise-isolated room in the house. Relatedly however, it doesn’t connect directly to a bathroom. We share 2.5 bathrooms among the 4-5 of us. There are 3 toilets and 2 showers total, so sharing’s been easy.
Lastly, the room will soon be unfurnished, but if you’re looking for a furnished room we do have one set of bedroom furniture in storage. On the other hand, if you’d need some extra storage space in addition to the room’s 170 sq ft, that’s also no problem.
About the roomies
We’re a small community: 4 working professionals and 1 cat. I’m Zandra – I’m 34, and I work in online education, as a problem-writer and learning systems designer for a math, science, and CS website. I love to garden and build things, and my favorite board game is Betrayal at House on the Hill. We have a lot of board and card games- Codenames and Hanabi are two house favorites. :) And we try to all gather around the same table for dinner one or two nights each week, but it’s a casual thing, not a strict routine.
The other three people on the current house-roster are Joe, Jamie, and Lee. Joe is a video game UX researcher, Jamie’s an artist, and Lee’s a water professional. My cat, Ollie, is a cat running dog software on cat hardware. He loves being pet, especially having his chin scratched and his belly rubbed, he comes when called, and he is just generally friendlier than most cats I’ve met.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who cares about being part of the community, not just a ‘tenant.’ And being enthusiastically queer and trans friendly is a must. Currently no one really drinks, but some alcohol/drinking is no problem, no smoking or drugs though.
