About the room

Sweet 10 x 14 room, queen bed, dresser, a door to 10 x 30 sunroom with fireplace, (sunroom also with door out to back patio), , close to bathroom, back of the house, so a quiet room. House is 2 bdrm, 1bath, 1200 sqft with high peaked roof, loft storage room, open area concept, open beams in living room, dining room, and kitchen, sitting in the middle of one completely fenced acre. There is a long covered front deck and small patio out back. Dead end street with only 12 homes on it. Very quiet. Neighbors are all blessings. …most of us are retired. Location is under 5 miles from shopping, fast food places, the college, gas stations, and maybe 20 minutes from Lake Ouachita.

About the roomies

I have been told this is long and not about roomies. True. Potential roomies need to knoww who the person renting out the room is. They need to know the household. Reading this long description should clearly tell any potential roomate if this is where they would be comfortable. If a potential roomie likes what he/she reads, can identify with it, can share in it, great. Here goes: I am nearing 70 years of age. Sometimes I wasn’t sure I would get this far as I was born with a funky heart. I am presently living alone due to the passing of my housemate of several years last spring. I still miss her. I am considering another housemate if I find the right one, and vice versa. I personally have two medium/small dogs and two cats, but now also I have inherited a small dog and fluffy cat from my previous roommate. I love animals, but I don’t think there is room here for any more critters, at least my own cats and dogs tell me that. I am a retired professor out of Texas A & M Kingsville, Texas. I loved teaching, and also learning from my students. I am Christian to the marrow, but do not preach to others. I stay on the right side of the law. Cannot afford tickets or fines. What others choose is their own business. I enjoy discussions on dozens of topics, but avoid any on politics and “religion” . I love to laugh, enjoy witty conversation, refuse to allow any drama, trauma, or profanity in the house, am very easy going and flexible, and spend much of my time by myself by choice. I rarely cook any more since retirement, but I get the urge now and then to dust off the pots and pans. LOL I am neat, tidy, and nearly obsessive about the cleanliness of the kitchen and bathroom. My dogs have never been allowed on the furniture. They have their own very comfy beds. They are also trained not to jump on people. All three are very senior boys with one nearly blind, another nearly deaf, and the third doing OK so far. The kitties are all foster failures, all around 3 years of age. They are highly affectionate, shy of strangers, and sometimes as rowdy as circus clowns at night, chasing each other and running the open beams. All of the critters earn their keep in maintaining the house and property, hunting or chasing anything that moves, and keeping wildlife out of the yard. I am an army brat, so I am well travelled. I am also well read, well rounded, and was well brought up. I also have a number of not-so-wells, but I do work on them. LOL I do not like to be around anyone crude, rude, or pushy. I am not that way. My housemate had complete freedom to cook, do laundry, watch TV, whatever, whenever. We shared the house freely and yard, but each kept our bedrooms private, entry by invitation only. I do not interfere in anyone’s life, nor would I like that myself. I have family who rarely visit due to distance, but we are still very loving and close. They are also all respectful, polite, and well brought up. I don’t do crazy, feral, or obnoxious, either, whether from a child or adult. My roommate occasionally had a grandkid come visit a day or two. They were nice visitors, sometimes quite funny, like their grandmother. She often would tell her grown kids that she had never been happier than the years living here. Laughter, peace, and harmony reigned here then, and still do now.
