About the room

Seeking an easy going, self-reliant individual (or couple) for the basement/ground level portion of the house we rent. The ground level has its own: entrance, bathroom, and kitchen. The kitchen includes a full-size fridge (sorry, no dishwasher). There is a stove, but it cannot be plugged in per city ordinances. There are two bedrooms, so you could make one of them into your own living/family room. The washer and dryer are on the ground level and is shared, but there is a door that separates them from the rest of the ground level.

There is street permit parking as well as a spot in the back alley that is available.

The backyard is a shared space and the attached garage is used as storage. The front parking spot is used by the top level resident.

None of the utilities are included in the rent. All the utilities are in my name, so I usually just Cash app request what my roommate owes every month. Our electric, trash, water, and sewage go through Seattle Public Utilities. Electric is every other month and the rest is the months in between. Gas is through Puget Sound Energy and is monthly. Our hot water is gas, so, unfortunately, this is a must. We have internet, you are more than welcome to join in ours and split the cost or get your own. It’s xfinity, so it already sucks with just us two.

If you have a cat, the management company we rent through requires a $250 pet deposit.

Please be aware this house was built in the early 1900s, so it has a lot of character. I’ve been renting this place since 2013 and have a great rapport with the management company. Since I’ve lived here they’ve replaced the: washer, dryer, hot water heater, the entire roof, and locks. The ground level is carpet in the bedrooms and tile in the rest. One of the bedrooms could use a paint job, but there is a bunch of leftover paint in the house you could use.

The heat in the basement is electric. There is no a/c nor ceiling fans, but the basement keeps the best temperature throughout the year compared to the rest of the house.

I’m 26 and my roommate is 31, so we prefer someone in their late 20s to 30s. You must at least be 21 though. We have a fire pit in the backyard that we like to use on occasion, but for the most part, my roommate watches tv and plays video games while at home. While I hang out with my boyfriend in my part of the house.

Our lease ends the end of August, so we would want for you to be put on the new lease in September. Since my current roommate has been renting with me for a few years, our deposit (is already handled for the management company, but we would ask for you to pay us a 3rd of that, $934, directly for security purposes. (The management company only sends one check out when they do give security deposits back anyways).
