About the room

Located in Charleston proper, close to downtown, close to grocery stores. There is street parking freely available, generally quiet neighbors. The house is slightly janky in a common Appalachia way (hence the lower rent). Good size living room and dining room, furnished guest room that can function as a second living room. The bedroom is small but the guest room closet can be cleaned out for you as well. There’s a finished room and second bathroom in the basement, as well as a washer and dryer. There’s room to garden if that interests you, plus a large deck. There is already internet of course but not cable TV. Utilities are not included and run to around $120/month, though I’m trying to get the internet bill lowered.

About the roomies

I’m the only roommate. I’m disabled (due to a nervous system issue) and don’t work, so I’m afraid I am in the house most of the time. My time is spent reading, cooking, doing embroidery and knitting, watching TV and movies, and trying to learn Mandarin. I have one cat who’s a sweet fun character but cannot be around other cats or dogs (she’s mostly blind so it’s just too stressful for her). If you have rodents or birds that would strictly stay in your room or the guest room that would be fine. Be aware my cat’s blindness does not prevent her from being a very fierce hunter though. I’m not vegan or vegetarian but a lot of the food I make is, would love a roommate who was into sharing kitchen duties (I cook, you clean). It’s a good house for get-togethers but I’d prefer someone who wasn’t super into hosting a lot of parties here. Would also prefer someone who likes a cool house! For myself I’d keep the winter temp at 63 and in summer 75/76 (though the free bedroom and guest room stay cooler in the summer compared to the living room where the thermostat is).
