Hello! I’m looking for two roommates to build a small community of women who are joyful, generous, creative, resilient, and strong. I’m in my mid-to-late 30’s and work in strategy consulting.

I created a list of “wants” in an effort to try to find a roommate who is similar and wants to create the same type of home. I found a home that’s 15 min from Santa Monica beach and 20 from Malibu so I can surf. I have extra boards you can borrow if you want to learn!

I’ve made a list of what kind of home atmosphere I want to build, what kind of people I think would mesh well in a home with me, and a little bit about me.

It’s a lot of information, but hopefully in being intentional upfront, we can build a home that is wonderful for all of us. The house itself is set up/furnished except for the two available bedrooms.

• 3 br, 2 bath, 1860 SF - second floor of a large house (aka a duplex)
• Gorgeous Spanish-style home with 9-10 foot ceilings, wood floors, and lots of light
• Common areas are large - a living room, dining room, large breakfast nook, large kitchen
• Dishwasher & laundry in unit; AC & heat
• Grassy front yard (I’m setting up patio furniture and installing garden beds and planting fruit trees!)
• small front patio; one of the available rooms has a small shared balcony
• street parking (will need permit - I’m working on getting temporary permits for you in the meantime)

Vision for a Home Community:

-Generous and welcoming -Host parties and get-togethers

• Roomie dinner once a month so we stay connected - we wouldn’t have to cook all meals together, but it’d be nice to eat together every so often :)

Love of the outdoors

• Plants everywhere! I have a LOT of plants already, but honestly, you can’t have too many plants :)
• Outdoor gardening -Camping and surfing and hiking trips!

Full of art and creativity

• Craft projects, photography, painting
• Lots of music!
• Tastefully decorated - I like vintage, nature-inspired boho with some mid-century modern and modern accents (if that makes sense … I’m not an interior designer so I probably butchered that)

Clean and organized

• Chore chart so cleaning expectations are clear and fair, and people don’t feel used - we could hire a cleaner every few months for deep clean? Or if folks are open to it, could hire someone to do basic cleaning every month or so.

What I’m Looking for in a Roommate:

• Committed to open and kind communication so we can have a good roommate relationship and deal with any conflicts or misunderstandings in a respectful way
• Clean in the common areas and considerate (although if you want to be totally messy in your room, completely fine!)
• Passionate about helping others and pursuing social justice
• Non-smoker - I’m allergic to cigarette smoke

YOUR ROOM (Room 1): $1425

• 9’8“ x 11’2“
• Closet is 5’10 wide and 2’ deep
• Shared bathroom (with me) with totally crazy pink and teal tile (tub and shower are separate)
• Has a cute little built-in desk space right outside the room that will be yours (about 3’ wide) plus some storage space in the hall that will be yours

Other Logistics

• security deposit is 2x the rent, plus first month’s rent upon move-in (I know; it’s what the landlord requires)
• I hope to start traveling a couple of times a year (for 1-2 months at a time) so would prefer to sublease my room for that time. The other two roomies would need to sign off on the person subletting so they’re comfortable.
• My boyfriend lives out of the country so visits me occasionally and stays with me.

Animals: I have a very sweet cat who unfortunately doesn’t play well with other animals, so you’d need to like cats, but not have your own! I’ve fostered kittens in the past without much trouble from Sophie, so I’d love to do that again as well. And who doesn’t love KITTENS?!

Furniture: The common areas are furnished so there isn’t too much room for additional furniture in those spaces.

I’m also willing to consider shorter terms than a 12-month lease as long as you’re able to pay the security deposit upon move-in. Lease will be through April 2023, then will move to month-to-month.

Strategy consultant focused on social impact/CSR. I love music, travel, photography, surfing, and being outside in general. I work from home but will mostly be taking calls from my room if you also work from home. Will try to get some soundproofing if necessary :).
