About the room

Only splitting for basic utilities; the electric is not high, today 6/25 it will be 100 degrees, house at 68-70. I’m careful w lights etc but the highest bill for summer has been under $200 and house has very high ceilings. That’s not much for Texas Blasting A/C in SUMMER!

The house is divided for a LOT of privacy between the Master BR and Sep hallway to guest rooms; there are 2 good-sized rooms connected by a full private bathroom; I think of it as a mini-suite but roommate/s will have full access to kitchen, HUGE TV room, yard, etc.

For full privacy I’m offering both rooms and private bath for $1500 - if you would like to have a larger, more private space for yourself.

Also: if you have a friend you want to split suite with I’ll lower the per-room rate.

There’s a very long driveway to garage from alley; I’m having a security system/smart home system installed which of course an official roommate would get to access as well. The garage is 2-car I would need help moving a few things around. I’m in the process of emptying the garage anyway.

There’s a half-bath for guests, clients, contract workers etc so that keeps extra room/s totally secure. No one needs to use the bathroom that’s part of the rental!

From having 1-2 roommates in this house the noise privacy from the guest hallway to my room is UNREAL; you cannot hear anything between the two which is scary if you need help but most of the time it’s like Not Having a Roommate.

If someone has a “dog & human-friendly” dog that’s part of why I’m listing. I know so many people have to give up dogs but a friendly, preferably 30-70 lb dogs is great! I’m home 90% of the time so a dog can hang out w mine & me.

About the roomies

My “real” profession is Independent Educational Consultant; I started my own business in 1995 and though my “title” is the same there are many jobs that are under the IEC umbrella. I’m also the Executive Director of an Australian Shepherd Dog Rescue group. I have only 2 dogs of my own and sometimes 1-2 short-term foster dogs; despite but this extremely popular group I’m definitely winding down. It’s NOT a house where all of our available dogs live! But, I am default for short-term layover for dogs who get to us then adopted quickly. Until 2021 I’ve always had 1-2 younger roommates who have been in school or have had jobs but who also loved the dogs and enjoyed helping. After COVID I decided to try 2021 on my own. I think I did quite well haha considering it’s been 14 years and I’m simply older than I anticipated being while still running the rescue.

As far as being a roommate I’ve been one practically my entire life; I have a younger sister, went to sleep away camps, boarding prep school, college in California, roommates in NYC, engaged & married 14 years! I am divorced but during that time I housed hockey players for competitive travel teams (Junior A) I decided to start my own dog rescue group - since then I’ve always met young, interesting dog-loving Millennials & Gen-Zs who have moved as I have!

The real reason for deciding to find a roommate again is this house is too big and empty for one person; the roommate who moved here with me graduated advanced college & now works 2 jobs full-time in a suburb near his family.

The BEST part about having me as a roommate is I’m extremely liberal in my value system; I have had friends and roommates of all ethnic backgrounds and enjoy tolerant, open-minded personalities.

Finally, I have a housekeeper 1-2x a week who I’ve had 14 years; she’s family to me. If a roommate wants 1x weekly cleaning including laundry he can chip in a little.
