About the room

Live in a beautiful 4b/2ba home off of 34th and SE Belmont. This two-story house has a full basement and a fenced-in front and back yard. It’s extremely private and in a great location with restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores (H-Mart, Fred Myer, and New Seasons), and Laurelhurst Park within walking distance.

There are three bedrooms and one bathroom located upstairs currently occupied by Sam, Amy, and William (bios below). The room opening up is downstairs with a walk-in closet, hardwood floors, and private bathroom for only $775/month. We are looking for someone to fill this bedroom in May and stay through the end of the year (Dec 2021) with an option to renew or go month to month at the end of the lease. You will be added to the lease and asked to provide proof of income and a credit check (which has to be above 650 required by the property management company).

What’s Included: Garbage/Recycling/Compost Wi-fi Washer & Dryer Storage space

Not included: Utilities average ~$80/month Water is billed quarterly and is ~$80/person.

*A security deposit of $673.75 is required upon move-in.

Who you are: Young professional/student in their 20s/30s (he/she/they/them). You are courteous, clean, a strong communicator, passionate, and will feel comfortable making this space your home. You do not have pets or someone else living with you full time. You’d join us for a family meal, nightcaps on the porch, or a bike ride now and then.

Details about your room: Your bedroom is located on the first floor and is accessed through the kitchen. We have made quiet hours in the kitchen from 9:30 pm — 7:30 am to respect the possible noise disturbances made while utilizing the kitchen. You have a large walk-in closet, hardwood floors, and a beautiful private bathroom with a tub. The photos of the house and room are from the original house listing. The bedroom open was once a living room (picture 4 and 5) but has been utilized as a bedroom for the past few years.

Details about the house: This is an old house and was restored to look as it once did in the early 1900s. With that said, we are not allowed to paint or put any holes in the walls. Command strips are ok! We have gardening space and would welcome more green thumbs to our household (if not, you can join Sam in the green-less thumb club, that’s okay too) Our roommate, who is moving out, has sold much of the furniture that once filled the home. Some items have been replaced, but we are looking for some furniture for the common spaces. If you have furniture, we’d be open to see if it could work in our space. We also have hopes to furnish the basement!

If you’re interested, message us back with a little information about yourself, and if it seems like a good fit, we’ll set up a Zoom interview followed by an in-person tour to see the space and meet the roommates. We want to make sure this is a great fit for everybody. Masks will be required, and we’ll chat outside afterward if the weather permits!

About the roomies

We are three motivated, driven young professionals in their late 20s/early 30s. We all value community, open communication, teamwork, and creating a space that feels like home. Sam (she/her) - singer/songwriter, coffee trainer, and amateur chef. When Sam isn’t home, she’s giving music lessons, playing with her band, or working with youth at her church. Amy (she/her) - boss-lady, an amazing mother to Kenji (our perfect Shiba Inu), world traveler, and thrifter extraordinaire. When Amy isn’t home, she’s with Kenji on a hike, skiing Mt Hood, exploring a new winery, or scoring the best vintage clothes in town. William (he/him) - art student, musician, and head chef (of the house). When William isn’t at home, he’s either printmaking or definitely just printmaking.

Our House Agreements: Inclusivity: We are committed to creating a safe space for everyone, especially in our home. We will not tolerate any discrimination against gender identity, race, or religion. We are all allies to the BIPOC and LGBTQ communities. COVID-19: While we are still in the middle of a pandemic, we have agreed upon house rules to keep everyone safe. We will definitely discuss this topic in an interview and revisit our rules before moving in to make sure we are accommodating to your level of comfort. Work from home: Sam and Amy work from home full time and need to maintain a quiet working space through the weekday. We ask that our future roommate can help maintain this environment. Cleanliness: We hope to find someone who values cleanliness and responds well to accountability on house chores. With several roommates and a pup, we maintain a regular (not too extensive) weekly chore schedule to keep things tidy. Pets: No pets, we’re sorry!! We currently are allowed one pet on the lease with no exceptions, and this spot has been granted to Kenji. Smoking: No cigarette smoking on the property. 420 friendly outside.
