About the room

We are seeking a new housemate for a room in our five-bedroom house in Porter Square. We are looking for a person who can stay through the end of the lease (August 31st) No smoking, please. The person moving out has loved living in this home and is sad to leave. It’s a gem!!

The room rents for $730/month, but the current tenant will take $200 off the first month if someone can fill the room in March. Rent will return to $730 a month for the rest of the lease. The room will be open from February 27th. (if posting is up, the room is still available)

This room is on the third floor, has a great skylight, and a small but mighty built-in closet. The room is not furnished. The room could fit a desk if working from home (but it might be a bit small). The bed in the images is a Queen size. For scale, there is enough room to do yoga and only slightly hit your foot on the slanted ceiling. The tenant has lived in the house for two years and is moving in with their partner.

The house includes: two living rooms (one is a TV room and the other is the wood-stove/study room), a large kitchen with gas stove and dishwasher, a dining room, a laundry room with washer and dryer (no coins needed), two full bathrooms, hardwood floors, a driveway, and an enclosed backyard with a bike-storage shed and grill. There is plenty of room on the first floor to set up a work from home space outside of your bedroom.

The house is in a fantastic location. Porter Square is an 8-minute walk away. Mass Ave. is a block away with various restaurants within walking distance. Harvard And Davis Squares are both 15-minute walks, and the Charles River and Minuteman bike paths are about 1 mile away.

We have street parking available, but also will have an additional spot in our driveway starting in April.

Our house takes COVID guidelines and precautions seriously. We are looking for a roommate who will be on board with these guidelines and maintain the same level of caution. We’d love to discuss these in greater detail to see if we’re a good fit. Our guidelines have evolved over the course of the pandemic and may change depending on the local caseload. Communication, collective accountability, shared responsibility, and flexibility are key.

We are keen to find someone who is thoughtful, responsible, comfortable to live with, contributes house chores, and who can have open communication. We’ve found it very helpful to talk through concerns/thoughts/feelings as a group and are looking for a roommate who can do the same.

If you are interested, please shoot us an email and tell us more about yourself, including work/play/what you like to do on a sunny day. Thanks!

About the roomies

Current roommates are a mixture of young professionals and academics (3 Urban planners, one post-doc, one Anthropology doctorial student) in their late 20s/early 30s, plus one 9-month old black lab mix named Goose. Goose and 2 of the Urban Planners + post doc will be leaving in March/April. All roommates currently work from home.
