About the room

The apartment is a spacious 1400 square foot unit: two bedrooms and a bathroom on the north side, and the same on the south. The entire apartment has hardwood flooring. We have very large common areas. The kitchen is nice, with a dishwasher, double-basin sink and disposal, gas stove and oven, and basic fridge. Several of us can cook at the same time. We’re okay with dishes left to be cleaned after work hours, so long as the kitchen is cleaned within a reasonable amount of time. We also have a washer and dryer in the apartment, and they can be run at anytime without disturbing anyone. We have a huge common area with a 50 inch television, a number of couches, and several bicycles. We have high speed wireless internet, laser printer, Netflix, Amazon-prime, and an HBO subscription. The 36M maintains a number of plants in the apartment that make the space feel extra relaxing. If you see him talking to his plants, just ignore him. We also have a dining area where we have had small dinners of 2 or 3 to large dinners of 10 to 11. We have an informal cleaning schedule where one of us cleans the common spaces of the apartment once a month.

About Your Room: Your room is a private room facing the North side of Baker Beach. With a couple of windows, it receives a plentiful amount of sun. You can listen to the waves crashing on the beach at night and can see the top of the Golden Gate bridge peaking through the trees from your window. You’ll be living adjacent to the 36M, and you would be sharing a bathroom with him (a cleaning schedule would be negotiated between the two of you). There’s a modest closet in your room, and two additional closets in the antechamber that you’ll share with your neighbor. The bathroom is nice, it’s a fair size, and it’s kept clean and uncluttered.

About the Presidio: The Presidio is a wonderful place to live, and can be a hub for whatever work you do. If you work in Marin, it’s a five-minute drive to the Golden Gate Bridge, and you’ll benefit from a reverse commute. We all pay for parking passes for our cars, and that is included in the rent. We assume you have a car, but if not, rent will be less. The MUNI 29 can be reached right across the street from us. There is also the PresidiGo shuttle that offers free service around the park and to a few destinations downtown, once again free to Presidio residents. Our apartment is within walking distance to the outer Richmond District where you can find numerous restaurants and other businesses. At the end of the work day, it’s nice to retreat to a place that’s isolated from the rest of the city: the apartment is surrounded by hiking trails and Baker Beach, and it’s perfect for nature lovers or people who need some peace and quiet.

About Rent: Rent is roughly $1200 per month, and you can expect to pay anywhere from $1150 to $1200 depending on the month. This is all-inclusive: it includes rent, a parking permit (if you don’t need one, rent will be $33 less per month), water, electricity, gas, and internet. We split some communal items such as toilet paper, garbage bags, etc.; that is also included in the rent. You will also have to pay an initial damage deposit of $600.

About the roomies

About Us: You would be moving in with a 36M, a 32F, and a 29M. The 36M filmmaker produces short documentaries and music videos. He loves music, pets, and baking pizza every weekend. The 32F works as a youth mentor. She loves theater, health, poetry, ice cream, and her sneezes sound like a Panda’s. The 29M holds a PhD in optics and works as a business developer in the biomedical industry. He is French, highly active and you’ll wake up to the smell of the freshly baked bread he makes weekly. We are a sex- and body-positive household. We love pets and want to get a dog or a cat. Environmentally friendly, bike friendly, and LGBT+ friendly.

The three of us have very different schedules, and we make it a priority respect each other’s space. We usually spend time chatting in the common areas - the kitchen, the living room. Occasionally we will find the time to share a meal together. We listen to music, and we stream all the shows, movies, and documentaries on the television. We all have different taste. We are cyclists of various sorts and enjoy biking through the city.

If you’re interested in living Baker Beach with some great people, please call/text the number provided. With COVID in mind, we will work out a way for you to see the apartment. We look forward to hearing from you, so please write us and tell us a bit about yourself. Thank you!
