West North Avenue

Greetings! I am offering one bedroom in my three bedroom apartment.

The bedroom is huge with a big walk-in closet. The room is 14 FT x 9 FT and closet is 9 FT x 5 FT.

The apartment is in Wicker Park, located on North Ave between Damen and Western (next door to the Handlebar Restaurant). Third floor, enormous space, tall ceilings, lots of light, dishwasher, WIFI, basic cable TV, washer and dryer in unit, central heat and air conditioning, and wall-sized windows overlooking North Ave. One shared bathroom (with shower and bathtub). Kitchen is big with a large table and a smaller area with a couch. Private deck with view of Sear’s Tower and sunset, along with larger shared rooftop.

The apartment is fully furnished. The bedroom is NOT furnished. There is only space in the apartment for what you can fit in your room and closet. There is space in the living room for you to keep one bicycle. My kitchen is at full capacity and there is no space for more. I have plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, utensils, pots and pans, a blender, microwave, which are all there for you to use. I have a vacuum, recycle bins, and most all house stuff.

Under ten minute walk to Damen Blue line and Western Blue line trains. (For some reason, the map on this website for my neighborhood says the nearest train is 26 minutes away, this is wrong.) The 72 North Ave bus stops right outside the front door (and will bring you straight to North Ave beach). Free outdoor pool open during the summer months (Holstein Park-15 minute walk). Shops, boutiques, galleries, spas, bookstores, gyms, record stores, all types of food (with outdoor patio seating in the warmer months), bars, coffee shops, the 606 trail, Wicker Park (basketball court), farmer’s market, and Milwaukee Damen and North intersection.

Non-permit parking side streets as well as zoned on others. It varies by street. You can get a permit from the neighborhood alderman as long as you have a valid Chicago city sticker. Parking on North Ave is free.

I am looking for someone mature, respectful, drama free, honest, and responsible, who will consistently clean up after themselves, and share with cleaning the common spaces. You should have a social life, passions, and interests. No one who wants to throw big, raging parties or brings the party home from the bar/club. The occasional small shindig with friends is okay, given notice beforehand is best and I appreciate/respect when it’s not overdone.

My home is quiet, calm, clean, and a peaceful space.

No pets of any kind. If you are moving due to roaches, bed bugs, lice, etc. this will not work.

I am a 38-year-old female Preschool Teacher. I have lived in the apartment for 13 years and love the neighborhood. I am originally from New England and have lived in many places in the U.S. I moved to Chicago to go to The School of the Art Institute and graduated with my BFA. I enjoy sewing, making puppets, quilting, going to galleries and museums, spending time with friends, reading, music, and watching TV (currently watching Girls, Big Little Lies, and The Office).

My current housemate is a 34-year-old male. He moved back to Chicago recently, after living in China. He works in computer science and is very chill.

The rent is $700 a month not including utilities. Utilities usually run around $120 each, depending on the season and use of air conditioning and heat. The deposit is $700 plus first month’s rent required before move in ($1,400 total). I am the only one on the lease, so you will sign a sublease. It is month to month, BUT I am looking for a commitment; not someone who will be here for only a few months.

The apartment will not be a good fit if you have a ton of stuff or furniture that will not fit in your room.

I ask for one reference from your most recent landlord. Background and credit check required. No criminal backgrounds.

You must have renters insurance to cover your personal property, personal liability, and any damage you are responsible for to the apartment. Renters Insurance is typically inexpensive.

Move in date for the room available is July 1st.
