Southeast 16th Avenue

Greetings! I’m looking for a renter for a room starting September 1 in this spacious, beautiful, single-family home. The home comes pre-furnished, with a dishwasher, air conditioners in the rooms, coinless laundry, appliances, kitchen supplies, and even some bedroom furniture if you need it. There’s a porch, a deck, and a garden, and two cats wandering around, meowing periodically.

ROOMS There are three rooms upstairs with locking doors and ample walk-in closets. The open one is 11’x10’ with a 9’x6’ closet. Three tenants (counting you) share a single bathroom upstairs and a kitchen on the main level. I have a single bed and assorted other furniture you can use if you desire.

LOCATION The house is close to the East Bank of the University of Minnesota campus, in the “Southeast Como” neighborhood of Minneapolis, a block from the bus stop by Van Cleve park, between Como and Hennepin Ave. It’s not far from the Quarry shopping center, which contains a Cub Foods, a Target, and other stores. It’s maybe twelve blocks from Insight Brewing.

UTILITIES, SNOW REMOVAL, & LAWN CARE I take care the lawn, but I’d love it if you’d help me keep the snow off the walk in winter. All of us (four in total) share the utilities.

WHO I AM & WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR You’ll be living in a home in proximity to other people, so it’s incredibly important to me to find community-minded tenants who communicate their needs to others respectfully. That includes (but is not limited to) keeping the house a peaceful, LGBT friendly, anti-racist zone. In the time of COVID, it’s also important for all of us to communicate with each other about our actions and manage risk.

I promise to take your needs seriously and keep our living space habitable. In return, besides the above, I ask for responsible tenants who pay rent on time without being reminded, refrain from indoor smoking, and clean up after themselves.

• Alphonso has an outgoing personality and loves all music and sports. He has two female cats, and is also a gamer. His favorite show is The Simpsons. He works at Ideal Diner in NordEast and rides bike year round.

• Jack is a youth advocate and composer/musician who is always working on projects. He bikes everywhere, loves cats, and hangs out with friends by the river often.

• Larkin (me) is a slightly quirky but reliable social worker who’s into gardening, tabletop games, philosophizing, and (like everyone else in this house right now, apparently) year-round biking. (Don’t worry; it’s not a requirement to live here!)
