About the room

Are you an amazing individual who happens to be looking for a room in THE most amazing apartment (3BR/2Bath) in Midtown West/Hell’s Kitchen? Well, the answer to your prayers is available right now. It’s unquestionably small, but this available room is still furnished and just big enough to accommodate a bed, a closet, a full-sized dresser, a large shelving unit and plenty of storage space for clothes, books and other incidentals. It includes a flat-screen TV and DVR box, air conditioning unit and wireless internet. Towels and sheets/bedding are also provided, if you like. In short, it’s the perfect set-up for someone who is either new to The City, looking for a ready-to-go place or a temporary stay… but still wants to be comfortable while in the heart of it all. Please note, though, that while it’s great for an individual – not a couple – who’s basically got bags and books, there’s not enough space for additional furniture or the like. Also, if you’re familiar with a “railroad/boxcar” apartment set-up, this section of our place has the same layout (i.e., the door to the room is accessed through another room, not off of a hallway). If not, I’d be happy to explain it more if we email or talk on the phone. That’s why the rent, etc. is so reasonable for the area. Oh, and final “full disclosure” drawback: it’s a two-flight walkup, not an elevator or doorman building.

The room is available for a long- or short-term arrangement (obviously with preference being given to long-term roommates). A deposit is required, whatever the arrangement. The current residents are: a 40s masculine gay couple (a writer and a designer) in one bedroom and a 40s masculine gay computer professional in the other. I’ll be happy to give more details about us and the apartment (plus pictures) if I feel from reading your email that we might all be a good fit together. The only requirements we have of you are that you are a responsible adult (and act like it… no MAGA Peter Panners whose drinking and/or drug use get inflicted on your roommates) and that you have something to occupy your time that takes you out of the apartment during work hours (because, as a writer, I currently work from home). That being said, please tell me something about yourself. If you just send me a couple of sentences and a phone number or ask a bunch of questions that make it clear you haven’t read any of what I’ve taken the time to write… don’t be surprised if you never hear back. The more you tell me about what a great roommate you are, where you come from, what you’re doing in NYC (and maybe even stick in a clever photo or Instagram link to a pic to reassure me that you’re not a serial killer)… the more likely it is that we’ll talk! Also, please be aware that I am probably the last remaining person on Earth who does not do social media, so providing me a link to yours doesn’t accomplish much on my end.

Thanks for your time. Looking forward to hearing from you.

About the roomies

The current residents are: a 40s masculine gay couple (a writer and a designer) in one bedroom and a 40s gay male computer professional in the other. I also have a hairless cat (yes, hairless… a Sphynx, so no allergy issues), but I’m afraid no other animals are permitted. I’ll be happy to give more details about us and the apartment (plus pictures) if I feel from reading your email that we might all be a good fit together.
