About the room

Huge 184 ($800) or 230 ($900) Square Foot Room. Room Private. Bathroom Shared.

About the roomies

We are a married cisgender hetero couple in our thirties. We do not currently have kids, but we are working on it. Yes, we have loud sex. However, Daniel currently works the night shift, so we won’t be doing that in the middle of the night. We’ll respect your quiet hours within reason.

We are currently living in a 1-bedroom apartment and are barely using the living room. With some room dividers, we can convert the living room into a very large second bedroom. Use any room dividers you like as long as they don’t make holes in the walls. The apartment is on the second floor with no floors above.

Daniel and Happy will cover 100% of the internet and electricity bills. Your portion of the rent will be $800 for 80% of the living room. The entire living room is 20’ by 11.5’. The space we are offering for $800 is 16’ by 11.5’. This space is larger than most bedrooms, and you also get exclusive use of the 3.5’ by 11’ balcony as part of the deal! We have some empty shelves in the kitchen and bathroom you can use, too.

If you want the entire 20’ by 11.5’ living room, it will be $900. Utilities still included.

The bathroom is shared, but we are very flexible about our shower times. Happy only bothers with makeup on special occasions, about once a month during non-pandemic times.

The kitchen is well-equipped, and we are happy to share our cookware with you. We also have a mini fridge sitting at Happy’s parents’ place in town that we can pick up, sanitize, and make available for your use.

Water is included in the rent for the apartment, and we have access to coin-operated laundry machines. If you would like to skip the coin-operated dryer, you may use our dry racks in the dining room.

Happy’s parents are constructing a two-bedroom Auxiliary Dwelling Unit, and the construction is turning out to cost much more than anticipated. Since we plan to move into the ADU after it is completed and eventually raise kids there, we would like to save as much money as possible for finishing touches (countertops, cabinets, flooring, light fixtures, curtains, appliances, etc.) on the new structure.

We are on a month-to-month lease, so we’ll be leaving the apartment whenever the construction is completed. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, construction has been delayed, and we may wind up living here longer than we initially anticipated. We will be here at least another six months, possibly longer.

We take the COVID-19 pandemic seriously. Until we have gotten through this, we will not be entertaining guests nor visiting other people in their homes. We understand if you need to leave the apartment for exercise, groceries, and essential employment, but please stay six feet away from other people and wear a mask.

Daniel is a low-risk essential worker in a factory that manufactures food-grade plastic. Some of that plastic is now going to hospitals for use as barrier curtains. Everyone in his factory is required by law to wear a mask, and he is taking extra precautions at work such as eating lunch in his car instead of the break room. Meanwhile, Happy works from home as an editor. Please type “stay safe” in your reply so we know you have read our entire ad. We are doing our best to avoid infection and looking for someone who takes the pandemic as seriously as we do. No guests until the pandemic is over.

If you move in with us, our apartment manager will require you to pass a credit check. While we have nothing against living with another couple, we are only allowed to have three people living in this apartment.

Please keep in mind that this arrangement will only last until construction on the Auxiliary Dwelling Unit is completed. The ADU will have two bedrooms plus a loft, but the rooms will be small. If we get along well, you could move into the ADU with us, but we’ll eventually need the second bedroom when we succeed in having kids.

If we don’t get along, or if you simply like the apartment and don’t feel like moving out, you can pay the rest of the deposit and re-negotiate the lease with different roommates when we move out.

If you’re the person who joins our household unit, you won’t need to wear a mask inside after we get the paperwork settled. However, when you come to tour the apartment, please wear a mask, wash your hands, and we will do the same. We will also wipe down the doorknobs with bleach before you arrive and after you leave.

Please let us know if you are interested in living with us so we can schedule a time to meet!

Do not contact us by phone. Due to Daniel’s night shift work, we sleep during the day and will not pick up. Please use the website’s messaging system.
