About the room

The apartment is a large 3BR (1200 sqft) with plenty of common space – a large dining room, a living room, and an additional small 4th room with glass doors (as pictured) near the front of the apartment which we currently use as an office; landlords only want 3 people max though. No live-in significant others; no pets.

The apartment is beautiful (high ceilings, parquet wood floors throughout, large kitchen w/ small dishwasher) and in a great location – 8th Ave and 6th st in Park Slope, 1 block from prospect park, 3 blocks from the F/G, and about a 12 minute walk to the 2/3 and B/Q trains. Heat and hot water is included in the price of the rent so the usual electric, cooking gas, and internet costs would be split evenly among us three. Laundry (quarters) is available in the basement with a small amount of storage space as well.

Your future bedroom (pictured as both furnished and unfurnished): 11 ft long, over 9 ft wide. Window, largest closet; note that the closet cuts into the measured space so where your bed fits would be 11 ft long by 6 ft wide.

About the roomies

I’ve been living in New York more or less since 2007, having moved to the city for college at NYU; this summer we’ll have been 4 years in this apartment. The great thing about this building is that rent doesn’t have a history of increasing (granted that could change in a heartbeat), so I’m looking for folks who won’t throw parties so that we can reap the benefit for the long-term.

I don’t smoke; I don’t have pets; I usually don’t have friends over, and I think home should be a quiet, calm sanctuary – that’s clean. So to keep us all honest, we’d have a weekly or bi-weekly rotating chore chart for the common areas. If you’d like to get a cleaning person in monthly, too, we’re game. We’ve had an affordable cleaner come every now and then.

I’m 30s/f, work in publishing in Manhattan, always trying to conquer reading in the evenings and weekends (to drive home the quiet sanctuary bit!) and your other roommate is 20s/f who works in online marketing.

In non-covid times, I’ll usually catch a gym class, grab a drink, or do work after, so I’m in and out and we’re looking for roommate who likewise keep a busy schedule. I’d look forward to home being a peaceful place to detox during the week when there’s downtime, and we’d be game for grabbing the occasional drink when we happen to be at the same place at the same time (if and when the world goes back to normal).
