I’m a 45-year-old professional male looking for a small or large room in Brooklyn or the surrounding areas. I work freelance and have a full-time job, so I’m usually either out working or in my room, depending on the day. My current lease expires in May 2023, so I need a place for June.

What I’m looking for is pretty simple: a clean room with a window that can accommodate a desk and a bike (which can be locked outside or in the building as long as it’s out of public sight). I would also like to have internet access as it’s necessary for my work. Additionally, I would like the option to have some visitors every once in a while, which I’ll inform you of ahead of time.

I’m looking to stay for at least 12 to 24 months and will commit to at least 1 year from the start date. I would prefer a month-to-month option because I’m also looking for an apartment, so if you have something like a studio-like situation, that’s great, and I’m willing to pay a little more. If you can include utilities, that would be even better!

However, there are some hard pass/dealbreakers for me, which include:

1. Rooms with no windows - I lived in one for 5 years, and I hated it.
2. Places with an illegal number of people or not enough 3. bathrooms.
3. Places that are open, need dividers, or require sharing with someone - after 2 years of sharing a room, I want to be by myself.

My overall goal is to find a place of my own, so I’m working with a small budget on rent alone (if you can include utilities, great!). My total budget is $800 monthly. I’m open to different neighborhoods in Brooklyn, and if necessary, I’m also willing to consider Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, or Staten Island, but only if it’s close to the ferry.
