Hey there! I am Kiera, 31 years old from Toronto, Canada. I am a graduate student studying anthropology with a concentration in transnationalism and immigration. I am also currently involved in research and field work with the CCA programme that assists asylum seekers and refugees with work, citizenship, housing, etc. I love my work— helping people attain access to resources that will gradually improve their lives and their status whether it is here in the US, the UK and/ or Canada. A part from my studies, I enjoy riding my bike, running, making art and music, reading, learning languages, connecting with people, and cooking. Personality wise, I am reasonably social, open, supportive, respectful, and ethical. Not to mention, there are times when I do feel socially maximized but, I will always let others know that in a way that is respectful and thoughtful. Even though I value getting to know my roommates and spending time with them, I am also respectful of their privacy and space. I value roommate relationships that are, supportive, genuinely kind, uplifting, transparent, sagacious, and ethical. Another big plus for me is to reside in a space with others who are socially, legally, and creatively engaged. What would sharing your fridge with me be like? -Full of fruits, Icelandic water, yoghurt, greens, fresh fish, green smoothies, good ol Canadian maple syrup, homemade jerk spices and some tasty fusions. My part of the cupboard... -Smell of lavender leaves, filled with loose leave teas, La Colombe coffee beans, seasonings and spices, and molasses. When you hang out with me... - I think would be fair to let you all arrive at your own conclusions about that! If my door was ajar what music would you hear playing? -Jazz, World Music, Ska, Instrumentals, Ambient and African drum melodies mostly. What would my room smell typically like? -Lavender or Clean Linen. What would the night time be like with me? -You will hear nothing but pages turning followed by an occasional sigh, some yawns and light chuckles (some of the readings start to become redundant and humorous after a while). Then there are occasional quite midnight tea parties in the kitchen. Mornings are... -I am just physically awake. Do I need to say more? You would find from my bookshelf... -Claudine Rankine. Derek Walcott, Jamaica Kincaid, Anthony Appiah, Pramoedya Ananta Toer, Amie Cesaire, Franz Fanon, Foyder Dostoevsky, Kobo Abe, Kenzamburo Oe, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Jose Marti, Octavio Paz, Roberto Bolano, Garcia Lorca, Fernando Pessoa, Zadie Smith,Phillip Roth, William Faulkner, E.m Forester, John Keats, Sylvia Plath, Charlotte Bronte, Virginia Woolf, James Baldwin, Ralph Ellison… just to name a few :) Thank you for reading and looking forward to meeting ! Thank you kindly— Kiera
Hi all! My name is Arianna. I will be attending Columbia University and I'm looking for a room to rent within walking distance to the school. I'm usually very quiet, and like to chill at home, but also love hanging out and doing fun plans. I'm organized, don't cook that much, etc.
We are both respectful, communicative housemates who enjoy having friendly relationships with our roommates. Sandy's loves include baby goats and the free sample section at Trader Joe's. Justin's loves include peanut butter and walking. ("So boring," says Sandy. [Sandy's loves include Justin and sarcasm.])
Freelance theatre technician that works a lot, out of the house mostly. Very laid back and friendly, keeps to myself mostly but happy to join in any house activites. I like to keep the place tidy so no problem doing my fair share of cleaning. Because I work a lot, when I am home I'm usually just watching tv, reading, or cleaning. :) Current sublet ends Sept 20 but move in date can be flexible as can the length of stay.
I’m a student at Columbia University and research contemplative practices in social dynamics! I love being social, reading, and living well. I practice meditation daily and I love drinking tea. I am originally from the UK.

I am from Singapore, currently a full time student pursuing a master's in public administration at Columbia. Don't do drugs, don't smoke and don't have pets. In my free time, I love writing, going for runs and exploring different space in nyc.
Born and raised in Mongolia, grew up in San Francisco, and have lived in various parts of the world. Full-time student majoring in Sustainable Development at Columbia. I can be outgoing, but also respect personal space. I'm pretty laid back and usually down for anything. Love food, music, art, and people.
I am recent Columbia graduate working at NYU at the Center for Neural Science. I enjoy reading, working out, and doing philosophy. I studied physics and math, I am Catholic, very clean, and like to host quiet 'philosophy parties' with a few friends from time to time. I am very responsible person, and work very hard, I am happy meeting new people.
I love experiencing new cultures and meeting people from all over the world. I lived in Detroit, MI for the past four years and have spent Having a lot of interests, I enjoy learning something fresh and atypical. I spend most my time out of the room but always enjoy a night in to talk ideas, dreams, etc. Very easy to get along with. I am beginning grad school at Columbia and am a semi-pro photographer. Let's make this happen!
I'm a social studies teacher born and raised in New Jersey. I moved to New York last year for work and am hoping to find a new living situation. For fun, I go out for drinks and play in some of the NYC sports leagues. I keep a tidy space and believe in a peaceful and clean home.
Hi! I'll be working as a research coordinator in oncology at Columbia Medical Center! I'm in my mid twenties, moving from New Orleans (originally from NJ). Hi everyone ! I am a 24 years old french trumpet player who enrolled Manhattan School of Music for my first year of a Master Degree in Jazz Arts. I love cooking, hanging out and discovering knew places and people. As it is my first time in the USA, I will be curious of everything and glad to share our life experiences. I'm an easy-going person, willing to participate in the life community within the flat, and quite busy during the day with classes, rehearsal and practice, but also writting music, usually at home. Looking forward to meet you soon !
Hi, we're Manu and Teddy and we are a couple from Serbia and India. We just finished our Masters studies in Rochester, and moved to NYC for jobs. My boyfriend is an actor and musician who loves to play the guitar and sign, and I'm a writer who loves to travel.
I'm a very respectful roommate. I like to do my best to clean up after myself and be aware of my noise level and all that. I like to go out to parties and not bring them home (although occasionally is cool). I tend to be pretty busy and out a lot and then quiet when I'm home. But if we happen to end up binge watching Parks and Rec or The Office and eating pizza together- that would be awesome.
Mid-thirties, professional woman, been in NYC for about thirteen years. I work as an office manager as my "day job", plus tutoring kids and adults in language and music. FICO score is currently 766, annual income hovers between 33-36k. I'm friendly and easy going. Always respectful of other people's space and things. I don't do typical annoying roommate stuff like leave dishes in the sink for days on end or refuse to help with cleaning, etc. I don't play loud music, I like to be able to come home and have a little quiet time sometimes at the end of the day. Like most people, I'm just looking for nice roomies at a decent price in a safe hood. I'm cool with 420, as long as it's not fogging up my own room all the time. I am not down with cigarette smoke in the house at all though (unless you're willing to keep it from escaping your room with a towel under the door or something). Thanks for reading! :) :) :) Ash
I am a recent Cornell grad working in the renewable energy industry. I have a rabbit who is a certified ESA. Very organized and love to cook, clean, and bake (pies are my specialty). Would like to room with someone open to hosting small gatherings (no more than 10-12 based on available space).
I am an incoming Columbia graduate student looking to live near school. I like to cook, I keep my space clean, and I like to be friends with the people I live with. I have a little black cat named Florence who is very friendly, talkative, and loves to cuddle.
Hello, I’m a 39 year old single guy. I work incredibly long hours which range from 80-95 per week. I work for a company and also own my own. I don’t smoke or do drugs and I don’t have pets. I am usually only home to sleep and wind down. I’m respectful of others things and the prosperity itself. I don’t like having house parties or the like, I like to be able to chill once I’m home. I like to keep a clean place for all purposes considered. I could be looking for a 3 month situation or something longer if the fit works well. The budget listed above is my personal cost $3,000/mo). I’m flexible on most things including this price if the property warranted it. I’d prefer not having more than one roommate unless the place was large enough to accommodate. The only basic requirements are the place has some type of cable (directv, fios, spectrum, etc) with a solid broadband connection and centralized heat and air condition. I’m fine with a male or female roommate as long as we click. Feel free to ask me anything and I’m happy to answer.
I am a former classroom teacher and current program manager from Brooklyn, NY. I am about to start graduate school in the fall and am looking to move closer to campus. I love to travel and have lived in Africa (multiple countries) for the past four years. I am looking for someone who clean, kind, responsible and considerate, ideally a youngish student or professional. I also wouldn't mind someone who doesn't take life too seriously, you know, laughing never hurt anyone, especially while apartment hunting!
Hi there, I'm a reporter for an NPR podcast called Radio Ambulante. I met my first roommate on this app and we lived together for three years- it was a great experience. His O-1 visa is up for renewal and we have to go our separate ways, but I'm hoping to find another great roommate in a new apartment! I'm an easy-going roommate. I'm an early riser, not a crazy partier. I enjoy cooking every once in a while but I often eat out. I'm considerate of others' space, generous and really believe in bringing a positive vibe to my living space.
A bit about myself, I'm originally from Colorado. My little cat buddy (his name is Plumps, very friendly, plays fine with other cats) and I are looking to move in the next two months preferably in July. I'm a cat lover, own lots and lots of houseplants, and consider myself to be clean, neat and respectful. I currently work in a non-profit cultural exchange organization in the Financial District, promoting work experience programs for young people from around the world; I've been at my company for over 10 years. I like to cook, love to bake and can bounce between enjoying a quiet night at home playing games or going out to meet friends and dance up a sweat. I speak English, French and German and can converse in intermediate Spanish.
Columbia grad student, starting 1st term this fall. I am a very courteous, responsible, quiet, tidy, and easy-going person who is also a good cook! My small dog, Watson, is a 3 year old Border Terrier - very well trained, friendly, and gentle. Ideally, I am looking for individual to share a 2 bedroom apartment, preferable with private baths. Perhaps you also have a dog that would enjoy a buddy in the house. I'll be relocating from Seattle in late August.
My name is Lindsey, I'm 24, and I’m in publishing. I’m originally from Ohio, but moved to the city last year. I’m clean, considerate, and love meeting new people. In my spare time I like to run, read, and write.
